Sometimes a little DIY (and orange) goes a long way…

So, after the Great Unintentional Bathroom Remodel of 2012, I don’t mind telling you I was loathe to undertake anything else for a while…BUT, the siren song of the spray can always lures me back eventually…plus, I’ve have some extraordinary luck in the “trash” department lately.  Case and point:

She was lovely before, rescued from my brother’s porch..but I’ve never been able to leave well enough alone…

Hello ORANGE!!!

Naturally, I already had the chandelier shades. ‘Cause I’m a “collector.” See? Its things like this that encourage me…

I have no available space on my ceiling to hang another hardwire lamp (seriously, you can’t be very tall in my house), so my Dad rewired it as a pendant.  And who DOESN’T have a bird cage hanger just sitting around the house? (Somebody had thrown this beauty AWAY.  I know, again, I was at the right place at the right time.)

I love this light….

I don’t think I could love this any more.  I do feel slightly sad for my generous brother and sister-in-law, who relinquished this to me not ever suspecting that they were going to want it back *grin*.

Looks great! Isn’t it fun to paint something and then you can always paint it again later on when the mood strikes. I recently bought 2 hurricane lamps from the Salvation Army Store for $8. each and I’m thinking of painting the “brassy” bits brushed nickle. What do you think? Should I do it?

      • Thank you so much for the fantastic feature. I’m in fabulous company and clearly, you have a terrific eye ;) Thanks again and I will come to the party every chance I get! (and bring canapés ;)

    4. Hello Haydee: This is such a wonderful idea, to turn a chandelier into a floor lamp–I am taken with this! Love the bright color, and so clever to use a bird cage stand–I never would have thought to do that.
