Hurray for Hollywood!

I have been watching the Academy Awards since I was old enough to stay up past 8:00 p.m.  Its my version of the Super Bowl: I eat Academy Award themed food, keep score cards and generally feast my eyes on every single aspect of the spectacle.  I love everything about the land of make-believe, I know that under the tinsel, there’s still more tinsel and I don’t care. I have collected any and all memorabilia relating to Old Hollywood (the most tinselly of times) for as long as I can remember:

Hurrah for Hollywood!

How could you NOT want to visit Hollywood after looking at this 1930s postcard?  Or these:

Nostalgic perfection...

For my 40th birthday, my sister and I took an item off the bucket list and went to Los Angeles.  We had big plans to eat where the pretty people eat and keep our eyes peeled for any and all celebrities.  Sadly, The Brown Derby is no more, but if it had been, we would have been channeling Lucy and Ethel…

We would have had the booth right under Jimmy Durante's nose..

We left many neighborhoods in Beverly Hills un-stalked, (naturally we bought a Star Map and yes, George Clooney’s address IS listed), so we have a return trip planned.  In the meantime, I will sit on my couch, judging others with abandon.  HURRAH for HOLLYWOOD!!

If you think this is the most amazing post ever, then share! And if not, share anyway--it makes me happy!

Loved this post. My husband and I DID get a chance to eat at the Derby and it was everything and more than we expected. You had to make a reservation and the wait staff made it a point to know our name and to treat us like we were “Hollywood”. So sad when they tore it down.

I came to your Hurray for Hollywood! – Trash to Treasure Blog page and noticed you could have a lot more hits. I have found that the key to running a popular website is making sure the visitors you are getting are interested in your subject matter. There is a company that you can get targeted traffic from and they let you try the service for free for 7 days. I managed to get over 300 targeted visitors to day to my site. Check it out here:
